"When Come to?"

Today I received a letter in the mail that made me want to pack my bags tonight and head to Africa! The sweet little handwritten letter was from Teshome, our sponsor child with Project 61. I didn't have the heart to tell him in the Christmas letter that I would be there to meet him in June because I feared something might happen and I didn't want to let him down if I didn't make it for some reason. Reading his sweet words today "When come to?" makes me so excited to hug that little boy. Soon I will take Tristan to pick out a cool soccer shirt to take over with me for our new friend. I only wish I could pack him a cake (his favorite food).

I'm ready!!!!

Asking for your used baby/toddler/kids items

From the post below, you might have seen that I am raising money that will go with my team to Africa for the specific use to buy things in country that the children need. The organization that I am going with does not require that we raise extra money but has encourage us to do so. My thinking is, if we are going to Africa why not do all that we can while we are there?

I am participating in a children's consignment sale the weekend of April 20th that will supply the majority of the money I will be raising for the projects we will be doing in Africa. Please take a look in your closets, basement, garage, and the overflowing toy room and consider if there might be a few things your kids would not mind parting with. Spring cleaning might just hit this week and I would love it if you would keep this opportunity in mind as you are clearing out your homes.

Neil and I are committing much time to this sale and have even joined the sales committee. With this commitment comes a great reward of 95% return on anything I sell, so if you think just a few items that sell for $5 each won't do much... think again!

We will be selling everything baby and kids. Clothes, toys, bikes, water tables, slides, pack n plays, baby gates, changing tables, board games, puzzles, train tables, scooters, kids cups & plates, strollers, exersaucers, bouncers, play mats, sports equipment, play kitchens, etc.
Anything on that list that you have been thinking about getting rid of anyway?

There are no items too big or too small for me to tag!

Some items that sell extremely well at these sales are
-Strollers
-Bikes
-Baby swings
-Baby Bouncers
-Train Tables
-Anything Thomas the Tank Engine
-Lego

If you have anything for me to pick up, just let me know and either myself or Neil will head on over. You can send me an email or message me: naconway@gmail.com.

This could be HUGE so let's see how much we can raise!!

Join me in Africa without having to get all the shots

I am happy to announce that my friends and family have contributed the money I needed to get my body onto the continent of Africa and put my hands to work. It's only three months until I board a plane and it's starting to get real. I am really excited and starting to prepare my heart for new things I will experience. Reading some great books, getting a list ready for packing, and starting my shots. Oh boy!

Now a really fun part of preparation starts! Well, part 1 of 2 for the fun.
Part 1 is raising money for the orphanages I will be visiting. Our team will raise as much as we are able to for works on the ground once we get there. Cash is not handed over to orphanage directors, but there are many things we can't pack in bags (more of that on part 2) that the orphanage is in need of. While we are in country, our leaders can take the orphanage directors shopping or shop for them for things like stoves, washing machines, water filtration systems, playground equipment, etc.

I would really love to open up the opportunity to all of you if you feel that helping these orphans directly is something you would love to do. I know most of us have given to big organizations that help many children, but I thought it might make it more real to give to these children and see pictures in June of the impact YOU had on them. If you feel called... give. If you feel called and you want to see big change... give big! This all goes to the cause and not to my personal travel. I'm ready to see some amazing things. Want to see pictures and hear stories of some amazing things, too? Let's do this!

1- the Paypal button on here will work to go to raising these gifts (and tracked on the side)
2- Look for my next post in a few days of how you can contribute money to this cause by just cleaning out and donating some of your kids unused items.
